AbstractUniversity students who are in the emerging adulthood stage is a critical period where individuals focus on developing social connections and forming significant relationships. In their effort to establish relationships, students use social media platforms like Twitter/X. Students engage in self-disclosure by sharing personal stories, expressing emotions, and sharing opinions on Twitter/X. This behavior of students disclosing personal information on social media is known as online self-disclosure. Students use Twitter/X because it has features that allow users to upload text, photos, or videos, which can facilitate their self-expression. The act of self-disclosure can be influenced by feelings of anxiety and fear of negative evaluation from others, known as social anxiety. The fear of rejection may arise when the content shared is not well-received by others, indicating the presence of social anxiety. This study aims to examine the relationship between social anxiety and online self-disclosure among students who use Twitter/X. Data was collected using incidental sampling and there were 165 respondents who use Twitter/X. The online self-disclosure variable was measured using the General Disclosiveness Scale by Gibbs et al. (2006), while the social anxiety variable was measured using the Interaction Anxiousness Scale by Leary (1983). The results revealed no significant correlation between social anxiety and online self-disclosure among college students using Twitter/X (r = 0.035; p = 0.519; p > 0.05). Most respondents had a moderate level of online self-disclosure (51.5%), while for the social anxiety variable, most respondents were in the moderate-high category (40.6%).
